Commercial Services
Doing Business in Trinidad and Tobago
The U.S. Commercial Service is a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce operating in more than 150 cities worldwide. In Trinidad and Tobago, the Foreign Commercial Service is represented by the Economic/Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy in Trinidad. However, the Economic/Commercial Section partners with the U.S. Commercial Service in the Dominican Republic to expand the commercial services and resources we are able to provide to interested parties.
The mission of the Commercial Service is:
- To help Tobagonian importers find qualified U.S. exporters;
- To help U.S. businesses find qualified international partners; and
- To represent U.S. business interests internationally.
We offer a number of services to businesses to promote trade between the United States and Tobago. Services range from complimentary overviews to tailor-made services for a fee.
For Tobagonian Importers:
Tobagonian importers can rely on our extensive U.S. network of 1,800 trade professionals to work for your business by letting us introduce you to the U.S. companies that best meet your needs. With our online resources, you can even find U.S. services, products and partners without leaving home.
We can help you:
- Locate U.S. products, services, or business partners that meet your needs;
- Connect with thousands of qualified U.S. companies at international and U.S. trade shows, both in person and via the Internet;
- Identify the best U.S. companies in your area of interest; and
- Secure one-on-one meetings with U.S. companies in person or via videoconference.
For U.S. Exporters and Investors:
To support the basic information needs of U.S. companies seeking trade and investment opportunities, we annually publish a County Commercial Guide (CCG). All CCGs are stored in the Commercial Service Market Research Database, which can be found at: www.export.gov.
Pending the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Economic/Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy will be able to provide the following customized support services for U.S. businesses interested in Tobago:
- Gold Key Appointment Service
- International Partner Search
- International Company Profile
Presently, these services can be accessed by contacting the regional U.S. Commercial Service representative in Santo Domingo.
